Please think ahead at least 50 years and consider your goals for people of all ages. Then think about what you and I should do during our lifetimes to make your goals achievable.
A large percentage of our remaining fuel supplies would be consumed in the manufacture of renewable energy systems and energy-efficient products in the quantities necessary sustain our population after fossil fuels become unaffordable for all but the very rich.
If we let ourselves run short of time and resources to make the transition, no amount of talent would ensure success and survival of our entire population.

HISTORY
During the Arab oil embargoes in the 19
70's, I became concerned about the United State's dangerous and expensive dependence on imported oil. Initially, my efforts focused on development of solar and wind energy systems.Improving energy efficiency is often less expensive than buying energy or getting energy from the sun and wind. After energy requirements are reduced, smaller and less expensive heating, air conditioning, and renewable energy systems are required.
While providing weatherization & indoor air quality services, I learned that buildings can be safely tightened to save energy only if adequate ventilation is assured. The American Lung Association's Health House project has resulted in very energy efficient, safe and comfortable homes that are very tight, well insulated and have a controlled amount of fresh filtered air supplied by a blower.
While you may find some of the problems discussed at this site unsettling, the human race probably still has time to apply solutions that will minimize the effects of those problems. Please care enough to check my sources and form your own conclusions.
